At 9:40am Oct 20th we arrived at the MTC. Greeted by lots of Volunteers every step of the way and young Elders who carried our suitcases to our room on the 3rd floor of the Senior Missionary Housing in the Jacob Hamblin Building . We dropped off luggage then it was to a room with lots of tables where we received our Missionary badges and went from table to table and gathered

Information about the MTC.

In the orientation meeting we sat with about 40 other couples and 10 single senior missionaries who are serving all over the world in all kinds of ways, humanitarian, member leadership support, family history, tour guides for temple square, CES (church education systems and seminary), self reliance, legal work with church and government, financial. Scott is the only vehicle coordinator in this group and 3 of us are mission secretaries. We learned there are 109 different ways senior missionaries can serve, simply amazing.

Some examples…

Elder Ludwig, a Senior Elder here will be traveling 32 countries and helping secure better internet availability. He was a salesman before he was called. Does not know much about the internet but does know how to connect with people.

There is a couple here that has been called to Lebanon which they said has just been re-opened. It is a humanitarian mission the church has $500,000 to put towards opportunities to help the people improve their communities, their assignment to help find those opportunities and help facilitate the funding. Also humanitarian mission in Ethiopia, Jordon and the Philippines.

One of several couples going to the Philippines is specifically called to work with the young return missionaries and help them enroll in college and find meaningful employment.

There are only about 7 couples called this week to serve in the United States but we are learning there is a great work to be done in every part of the world and we are humbled and grateful to be part of it! We trust the Lord and we go forward with faith and joy to serve the people of Indiana💗
