The week has flown by as Elder Davis and I have been in classes and devotional all centered around the Savior and how to share his invitation .

Our teachers have been amazing! Young return missionaries who loved their missions and share principles from our study guide Preach my Gospel. They have such a JOY about them.

We are divided up in Districts comprising of 8 missionaries. In our District we have 3 couples and two Elders. Our mission assignments are all different. One couple is going to England to serve in the office, another couple and Elder to New Zealand and the islands as legal council and an Elder going to 32 countries to help improve the internet for ward and branches. We discuss, share, listen and learn from our teachers and the spirit.

We have learned to LOVE these dear Elders and Sisters as we have shared. Each has sacrificed in similar and different ways to serve a full-time mission. It has not been easy to get to this point but all love the Savior 100% and will go forward with Faith as they use their talents and gifts to share the good news that He lives, He loves us and there is a plan of Happiness. We will be life long friends!

Just so you don’t think it’s all classes we had the JOY of meeting for lunch Callum Howell, who teaches here at the MTC.

There are 1800 missionaries currently here who are going all over the world so lunchtime is a social event where we can learn about where they are from and where they are going.

Elder Davis found a missionary Elder Deveer who is going to his former mission in South Dakota. Elder Davis shared his love of that area.

We were in the cafeteria when Elder Matthew Reynolds came in. His parents, Michael and Laura Reynolds were members of our ward back home in Woodinville before they moved to Utah. Truly a small world. Elder Reynolds is going to Cambodia.

There is beautiful artwork in every building depicting the Savior. Often we find ourselves stopping and just taking a moment and reflecting on how he taught more by example than words.

We had a devotional Wednesday night with the 550 new missionaries who had arrived that day entitled

“The Character of Christ”

One “Aha” moment for me was they asked us what are some of the characteristics of Jesus Christ? Some of the answers were:

Pure love, compassionate, teacher, patient, kind, perfect example.

Then we were taught this simple truth.

His actions were always outward.

Human nature would have us turn inward if we were afraid, hurt or offended but the savior always turned to others with love, compassion, and service.

This caused me to think about the savior‘s life and reflect on his actions. For example when surrounded by accusers he asked questions and taught truth. Even on the cross when he was in agony, he said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”

I have thought often about this lesson the last few days and ask myself;

How can I turn outward and serve more like our Savior?

Your answer may be different than mine, but anything we do that brings us closer to Christ is worth the effort.

Saturday was our Prep-Day (Preparation Day). We were able to leave the MTC and went to the Jordon River Temple in Sandy Utah and met some of our Children and grandchildren there.

Granddaughter Sister Davis who is serving a service mission in the Ogden, Utah Mission and Sister Davis 🥰

After the Temple we met more family at our son Nate’s favorite buffet restaurant to eat. It was wonderful💗 We gave hugs and say goodbye.

Our youngest granddaughter Josephine wanted a picture with grandpa so she could remember him 💖

Our daughter Krystal, and granddaughter Josephine dropped us back at the MTC. On their way out they saw these messages on the back of the stop signs.

Another reminder, we are in a sacred place focused on following the Savior.

We love you all! We are here one more week learning our specific office responsibilities and fly out Saturday, November 1 on our 47th wedding anniversary💕. Make it a great week!
