Last week we had a WONDERFUL and tender week of Zone Conferences. The picture above is the first 100 missionaries that will be part of the new Fort Wayne Mission starting July 1st. They will be joined with 22 missionaries from Chicago.
President and Sister Matheson talked about the Indiana State flag and passing the torch.
United –Both missions will continue to be under the same flag with the same goals to bring people to Christ.
Multiplier- the importance of inviting others to come unto Jesus Christ.
Hastening- The time is now. A Great work to be done in BOTH missions
“The torch that we carry, the light that we hold up, is the light of Jesus Christ. This is his work. I hope you see that every time you see an Indiana flag. I hope you recognize that in every season of your life, your job is to first carry the torch. and then pass it on. Share your light, share the love of the gospel, share your witness of Jesus Christ, because he is the living Christ. Stay with him, walk with him.”
A recap of last week
Supplies by the hundreds arrive for both missions! Bikes, bedding, books to just name a few. Sorting and dispersing during zone conferences was the goal.
Shopping not once but 4 times to feed 294 this time.
Sloppy Joes– Made 220 cups over 3 weeks using 65lbs of hamburger. GRATEFUL for a small chest freezer. 33 packages of 16 count buns.
Watermelon– 17 Costco melons diced up. GRATEFUL for helping hands. Sister Heiftje and Sister Okelberry who will serve in the Fort Wayne Mission.
Chips– 12 boxes of 30 bags rounded out the dinner menu.
Strawberry Shortcake was the dessert and again a Big Hit❣️ 90lbs of strawberries cut up. Did 3/4th in a food processor and froze ahead then we sliced fresh in the mix to serve.
11 Costco cakes and 13 cans of whip cream. They LOVE whip cream🥰.
Service with a SMILE! The Heiftjes, Nelsons and Sister Hunsaker move the line through fast.

It truly is a joy to feed these wonderful Missionaries who work so hard and serve so faithfully♥️

The next day after zone conferences, Elder Davis and I hopped in our car and headed north 2 1/2 hours to Columbia City where the temporary Fort Wayne Mission offices will be.
We literally found the Okelberrys starting from scratch, clearing out rooms, scrubbing folding tables that will be their desks, washing windows to hang signs and unpacking boxes.
Team effort to get as much done as possible in 2 days over the weekend. The new mission President and his wife President Flanagan arrived last night!
Elder Davis was given charge to get computers up and running and you know him it has to be a stable connection so up in the rafters we went to run new cables.
Pleasant surprise nice clean rafters with plenty of space to work!! Found an old phone cable box in President Flanagan’s new office and we were able to fish the new cable down. It only took 2 times and the right equipment. Mission Accomplished!

Temporary Transfer board set up. NO it’s not digital. Elder Davis has not been approved to share the software he is programming yet. Back to the “olden days.”😂
Besides saying goodbye to so many of our young Missionaries, we also said goodbye to our Sister sisters. Sister Tuckett and Sister Shawcroft and…
…Elder and Sister Turner all who have completed their missions. It is amazing how fast one can become Forever Friends♥️when you are serving a mission. We are thankful our paths crossed.
Elder Davis spent a chunk of Father’s Day on the road. We got back home about 2 and worked at the office to get ready for Monday when he heads back up. I got him a car tie clip and a tire pencil holder for Father’s Day. This trip he will take 2 bikes, passports and updated photos for the Fort Wayne board.
Now for an unexpected twist. Elder Davis made it home Tuesday night safe and sound from Fort Wayne. Happy reunion, we don’t like being apart!
YES a change of scenery. I woke up Wednesday morning and had lost my short term memory. Repeated questions and was not quite myself. Took us a while to get to the mission office as I was slow in getting ready. After we got there it was decided I needed to get some medical attention. A blessing and then Sister Nelson brought me to the Indiana University hospital as it is hard for Elder Davis to do hospitals. About 3pm that same day while in a hospital bed the “fog” lifted and I am back! Not sure where I have been but grateful to be present again.

I am still in the hospital day 3, have had a cat scan and 2 MRI’s no real answers yet. I still have no recollection of those parts of the 24th. It is an odd feeling to loose a piece of one’s memory. I have tried to remember but nothing comes back.
It is 7:30am the 26th. Raining outside. I have been sitting here is a dark room, the hospital has not quite woke up, trying to remember that part of the missing day but nothing comes. The results of the 2nd MRI should be here this morning and hopefully it will be good news and I can get home.
Of course Elder Davis and our families are worried and concerned and I don’t blame them. I have heard “you do too much, you need to take care of yourself, get more rest, drink more water, don’t worry so much, etc “. I SO appreciate their LOVE and concern💖
Truthfully I feel I do take care of myself but maybe I don’t. I love what I do. I LOVE being a full-time missionary with Elder Davis the BEST COMPANION EVER and serving the missionaries here in Indiana.
So as I wait to hear why my memory disappeared. I am reminded AGAIN of when I got the call from Nate our oldest and he told me he had cancer. After that brief tearful call the Lord whispered to my heart. You talk about faith now it is time to show it💞 I TRUST THE LORD even in a hospital in Indiana. Busy is NOT Bad but running faster than one should is a lesson we all have to learn and maybe I needed to also😉
Last night our dear Alicia sent me a talk I listened to before bed. “Learning to Trust God with Anything” by Emily Belle Freeman. Beautiful.
I don’t know what the future holds right at this moment but I know who holds it and I TRUST HIM♥️ I am in good spirits and grateful for the care being given here.
