One thing for sure Elder Davis has the gift of programming and with the knowledge and help of our amazing sons šŸ’— He is working on a vehicle software program which has made it easier here in the Indiana Indianapolis Mission and possibly for other Vehicle Coordinators in other missions in the future.

He got the touch screen to work on the digital board he is programming and it is fun to watch the missionaries reactions when they see and try it for the first time!

His resourcefulness and creativity is also ever working. He built this stand for taking pictures of gas receipts with old license plates we found in the closet, cardboard and the computer camera. It works great.

Every dollar is accounted for in the church of Jesus Christ including in the mission field. When missionaries get gas or a car wash they are to take a picture of the receipt and input it into an app on their phone. Some are missed so Elder Davis collects receipts every 6 weeks at vehicle inspections. He goes through each packet looking for missing receipts.

Let’s just say some receipts arrive in better condition than othersšŸ˜‚ You can imagine the pile of receipts he gets every 6 weeks with over 80 cars and when you get behind it can get overwhelming. We spend 8 hrs yesterday going through just March receipts! It is the number 1 struggle for Vehicle Coordinators in the 110 Missions in the United Stakes and is one of the first areas of focus Elder Davis is programming.

I too am growing in my knowledge as I work with Mission travel in Salt lake to coordinate the flights in and out for every missionary. Something new for me.

An amazing Elder needed to get home for medical care after falling on ice and reinjureing a knee that will need surgery. He is unable to put any weight on it so coordinating wheelchair assistance, aisle seating, checking luggage and making sure every needful thing was taken care of for him to have a safe flight back home to family in Albuquerque, New Mexico was a priority these last 2 days.

Glad to report he made it home safe last night. His hope and ours is that he will be able to return after surgery and healing happens.

I have always enjoyed cooking for others and doing the little unexpected things such as rice crispy mini Easter baskets last week for MLC – Missionary Leadership Council. We served lunch for 45 at the mission home. Weather was warm, in the upper 60s and rain held off, we barbecued hot dogs and last minute decided to serve lunch outside. It was a fun change after so many wintery days.

This message later in the day came from President MathesonšŸ’—

Thank you for making the day wonderful and memorable! – The missionaries just loved it all – and I don’t know how you channeled the weather as well! – AMAZING

Thankful to be able to support and bring smiles to these missionaries WE LOVEā£ļø

This past weekend was General Conferenceā£ļø An opportunity to listen, learn and gain spiritual knowledge, strength and direction from apostles and prophets.

In the scriptures we read…

Proverbs 2:3-5

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

In The Doctrine in Covenants we read…

D&C 130:18-19

18 Whatever principle of intelligencewe attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection.

19 And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.

In the very first verse of the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ Nephi says…

Nephi 1:1…having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days.ā€

Gaining knowledge must be important to the Lord so it should be for us. We are grateful for the knowledge shared at General Conference that helps us recommit to live closer to our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. Grateful to be able to re-listen, read and study those inspired talks, to be able to gain personal direction and apply it in our lives.

We are grateful for the gifts the Lord has given us that we can use to bless and serve others. It is because of Jesus Christ we are serving here in Indiana. It is because of Jesus Christ we can do all that is asked of us.

This sign was posted recently in a neighborhood on the way to the mission office. It says it allā£ļø
