Transfer week is here again. It’s crazy how fast the 6 weeks go by! 15 going home and another 23 coming.
Monday evening before transfers the office elders, and assistances to the President come. President has made inspired decisions where missionaries will be moving to and who will be training the new missionaries.
This groups responsibility, with Elder Davis’s help, is to decide where cars should go and write out travel plans for every companionship impacted. Thus the pizza for substance and brain power😊
Travel plan examples:
Westfield: (a district)
Drive to transfers so you can arrive right at 10:30. When you arrive, please stay out of the church building unless you need to use the restroom or talk to any of the office staff. Elder—— find Elder ——and make sure to get the car keys, apartment keys, and SIM card for JCreek/YSA 1.2 from the Assistants. Load your luggage into your car. Head back to your respective areas by 11:00 at the latest so you can get to work straightway!
Swahili Group:
Drive to transfers so you can arrive right at 8:40. When you arrive, Elder —— head into the gym in the church for the new missionary meeting. Elder —— head to the relief society room where you’ll sit with the other missionaries whose companion is training, you will receive a mini devotional prepared by the Assistants. After, Elder ——-head to Swahili Group 2 and get to work straightway! Elder ——— load your new missionary’s luggage into your car. Head back to your respective areas by 11:00 at the latest so you can get to work straightway!
Indy 3.2:
Drive to transfers so you can arrive right at 8:40. When you arrive, Sister —— head into the gym in the church for the new missionary meeting. Sister ——- leave your luggage outside of the Office Elders’ trailer, you’ll be headed to lunch with the Assistants at 11:00, further instruction will be given that day. Sister ——-load your new missionary’s luggage into your car. Head back to your respective areas by 11:00 at the latest so you can get to work straightway!
What used to take the Elders till midnight or 12:30am to complete as they had to write the entire travel plans from scratch with Elder Davis’s tech help they only need to review each plan that the computer generated for them and were done by 10:30 and were thrilled!
In preparation for making bedding bags I stocked the supply closet.
Elder and Sister Kim Hunsaker and Sister Susan Hunsaker (yes SAME last name but they did not know each other before the Mission) came to help.
Bedding bags and Critical information folders done❣️While we were working inside Elder Hunsaker and Elder Davis were out repairing the bike shed in preparation for Transfer day Thursday.
The screws on the garage door had come loose and it had come apart. For the last month it had been a struggle to open. It was a cooler day than usual in the low 80s but humidity was HIGH🥵. They were grateful when that project was done !
15 Elders and 8 Sisters arrived Wednesday evening around 6:30pm. All on the same flight except one sister who arrived two hours earlier flying from Mexico City where she had been studying Spanish at the missionary training center there.
Elder Davis was one of the chauffeurs in this Mercedes-Benz passenger van he rented 🥰
Missionaries were transported from airport to Temple for a group picture then to Mission home where i prepared tables for orientation and pizza, salad and cookies.
It was 8:30pm when they arrived. Tired, hungry but several battling motion sickness from all the travel. We definitely had left overs!
Can you find Elder Davis? He is in his element♥️. While interviews with President Matheson are going on basic instructions are given, questions answered, phones set up then off to hotel for a much needed night’s rest.
Transfer Day AND…
Elder Davis’s Birthday 🎂👏🏻🎈He was surprised when everyone sang to him❣️They truly love him and He truly loves them. He has an amazing quality to talk to anyone anywhere and share words of wisdom at anytime. I am often in awww how it comes so naturally.
For example while at the Bear Creek camp a couple weeks ago we wondered where he had gone and when we drove down the hill there he was talking to some young men fully engaged. They had asked him “ What did it mean to get out of your comfort zone? “ Sister Matheson had mentioned it in her talk. Learn to talk to people. He explained when your at school look around, notice people and walk up to those you dont know and say Hi. Everyone needs to be noticed.
In the office when missionaries call and are hesitant because they are having issues with a car or bike He tells them “Elder, Sister we are on the same team what can I do to help you.”
Today one of our friends Kerry Miller was baptized. The younger missionaries brought him to church a few months ago. He and Elder Davis hit it off🥰. Elder Davis attended some of the discussions. With no family close when Kerry ended up in the hospital Elder Davis volunteered to pick him up and help get him settled back home. He asked Elder Davis to confirm him. A JOYFUL day for both of them.

It has been a true BLESSING to serve a mission together and I can say I have the BEST Companion EVER❣️. LOVE YOU FOREVER Elder Davis💙
